A few years ago, the Keep Saginaw Beautiful (KSB) Committee established a Public Art Policy with Saginaw City Council approval. This program facilitates the development of public art within the City of Saginaw, Texas, recognizing that art is integral to the vibrancy of our community. Over the years, art has been displayed on traffic signal boxes, historic murals and random art projects in city parks such as drainage outflows and manhole covers that have improved the appearance of our great community.
Recently, the City has commissioned Adam Davenport to paint a mural on an above ground fresh-water tank in southern Willow Creek Park. The mural features Saginaw’s own LPGA golfer Angela Stanford. Adam (https://www.davenportstudios.com hails from Louisiana/Mississippi, but now resides in the Austin area, and is well known for his versatility in realism and portraiture. Adam has painted historic murals on the north and south side of the Northwest Plumbing Building at 109 N. Saginaw Blvd (the original Saginaw Fire Station) as well as another mural project on the north side of JR’s Café (the original home of Greene’s Grocery).
At the May 4, 2021 City Council Meeting, the Saginaw City Council approved funding for this mural. Your $1.00 voluntary donation on your monthly water bill to the Keep Saginaw Beautiful Committee is funding this project.
