New TV Recycling Rules in Effect

In Texas, a new television recycling program went into effect on May 1, 2012. This program will provide Texans additional opportunities to recycle used televisions. The rules are available at 30 Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 328, Subchapter J.

What does the TV recycling program offer?

  • Beginning April 1, 2013, a list of TV manufacturers who have approved recycling programs will be available through the Texas Recycles TVs website
  • After Jan. 31, 2013, recyclers accepting TVs must be registered with the TCEQ and certify that they comply with requirements for managing collected TVs.
  • Your residents can now get information on how to recycle their used TVs by visiting the Texas Recycles TVs website.

What about computer recycling opportunities?

Texas also has a computer-equipment recycling program. You can find more information about that program at the Texas Recycles Computers website.
