Garbage & Recycling Pick-up
Garbage & Recycling Franchise:The City of Saginaw contracts with Waste Connections (formerly Progressive Waste) for residential and commercial trash collection and residential curbside recycling. For more information about the company please visit their website at www.wasteconnections.com or call them at 817-222-2221.
Garbage and Brush:Residents shall place garbage and bundled brush at the curb in either disposable or permanent containers before 7:00 a.m. Brush not in a container must be cut into no more than 4 (four) foot lengths and tied in bundles. No container or brush bundle may exceed 50 (fifty) pounds. Materials can be placed at the curbside after 7:00 p.m. on the day prior to the scheduled collection day. Vines and thorny bushes must be placed in disposable containers. Collection days for Saginaw are Monday and Thursday. Residential recycling is collected once a week on either Monday or Thursday depending on your address.
Fence Panels:Fence panels must be cut half so as not to exceed 4’x6’. Due to the large amount of waste generated in the City, Waste Connections asks that residents only place 10 fence panels at a time at the curb for pickup. The remainder will be picked up on the next scheduled collection day.
Bulky Items:Bulky items such as appliances and furniture will be picked up as part of the normal service collections. All freezers and refrigerators must have an attached certificate showing all CFC’s have been removed by a certified technician. Again, due to the large amount of waste placed at the curb on Mondays, Waste Connections asks that bulky items be place at the curb for Thursday pickup.
Bulky Brush Pickup:Waste Connections provides twice per year bulky brush pickup on the first week of April and the first week of October. During this special pick up brush will not be required to be cut into four foot lengths or bundled. Brush must be stacked at the curb and accessible for the brush truck (not blocked by parked vehicles or under utility lines). This service is for bulky brush only. Depending on the amount of brush placed at the curb collections throughout the City may take more than one week to complete.
- Recycling bins shall be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection. All recycling materials must be placed in the 18 gallon recycling bins provided by the contractor and shall not weigh more than 50 (fifty) pounds. Recyclable materials include metal and aluminum cans, glass bottles and jars (rinse and remove lids), newspapers, magazines and catalogs, junk mail, cardboard and other household paper, plastic bottles with recycling symbols #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, and #7 rinsed with lids removed.
