Commendations may be done in person, by mail, by e-mail, or on the phone; use whatever method is easiest for you. Positive comments are shared with the employee, and often placed in their personnel file for future reference.
State law requires that formal complaints against police officers be in writing. Your first step in complaining against an employee should be to contact his or her supervisor. A field supervisor is on-duty 24 hours-a-day, and is available to take your complaint.
