Senior Center Updates / Progress

Senior Center Design Workshop

On Wednesday, November 10, our senior center members participated in a design workshop with architects from PGAL to begin planning for the new senior center facility. This project was approved by Saginaw voters in May 2021 Bond Election.

Our seniors were overwhelmed with joy and expressed their sincere appreciation that the City of Saginaw gave them the opportunity to be involved. As staff, we can design a great facility…but it’s not “our” facility…it is “their” facility. The senior resident members SHOULD play a huge part in what they want in their new facility, after all they will be the users. We promised them we would keep them informed during the process and that they would be heavily involved. On November 10, we honored that promise and will continue to do so in the future.

This was just the start of something great. The new senior center will be 10,000 square feet and will also feature outdoor amenities and open spaces. Our previous center was only 1,800 sq ft.

We are very excited for what the future holds for our great community. We are also very excited for our senior adults. They deserve a fantastic facility that they helped design.

Stayed tuned to www.SaginawTx.org for more details and progress on this Saginaw resident voter approved Senior Center.
