The Saginaw City Council will soon be considering the upcoming fiscal year’s budget for the city.
Residents can learn more about the City of Saginaw’s proposed Fiscal Year 2023 operating budget at two upcoming city council meetings.
These in-person city council meetings are scheduled for
• 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16 at the Council Chamber, Saginaw City Hall, 333 W. McLeroy
• 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22 at the Council Chamber, Saginaw City Hall, 333 W. McLeroy
About the Budget
The proposed budget for the next fiscal year includes a recommended property tax rate, and increases for residents’ water rates, drainage and waste water fee.
The City Council will also schedule a public hearing during its 6:00 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22 meeting on the proposed budget and whether to increase Saginaw’s property tax rate from $0.479516 cents per $100 of assessed value to $0.513719 per $100 of assessed value.
The Council will vote on the budget in September. The fiscal year begins Oct. 1.
